The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is one of the largest research centres in Greece; top 1 in north Greece. It was founded in 2000 and is located in Thessaloniki. Its mission is to promote the triplet Research – Development – Innovation by conducting high quality research and developing innovative products and services while building strong partnerships with industry and strategic collaborations with academia and other research and technology organisations in Greece and abroad.

The Center for Security Studies (Kentro Meleton Asfaleias – KEMEA), founded in 2005 by Law 3387, is a scientific, consulting and research organization overseen by the Minister of Citizen Protection, governed by common law and annually audited by chartered accountants. Its principal purpose is to conduct theoretical and applied research and studies, particularly at strategic level, on security topics and policies.
The Secretariat of State for Security (SES) falls under the Ministry of Interior and is responsible for ensuring the free exercise of the constitutional rights, to direct and supervise the police forces, coordinate the international police cooperation, to execute the government’s policy about organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking, and money laundering and related crimes. It’s also responsible for ensuring the safety of all government buildings, to ensure the good development of all electoral processes and collaborate along with the Customs Surveillance Service in the border control.
From the Secretary of State for Security depend four main departments: the Directorate-General of the Police, the Directorate-General of the Civil Guard, The Directorate-General for International Relations and Immigration and The Directorate-General for Coordination and Studies. In addition, the Secretary of State for Security tops the Intelligence Center for Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime (CITCO).
The management and implementation of the research and innovation policies of the Secretariat of State for Security corresponds to the Deputy Directorate General of Information and Communications Systems for Security. This department is in charge of managing the participation in the projects associated with European R&D and innovation funding programs.
PSCE, the Public Safety Communications Europe Forum was established as a result of a European Commission funded project in 2008. Since then, PSCE has evolved into an independent forum, where representatives of public safety user organisations, industry and research institutes can meet to discuss and exchange ideas and best practices, develop roadmaps and improve the future of public safety communications.
PSCE is a permanent autonomous organisation, working to foster excellence in the development and use of public safety communication and information management systems by consensus building.
The mission of the Swedish Police is to reduce crime and increase public safety. Through crime prevention, the police work to ensure that fewer crimes are committed. The aim is also for more crimes to be solved.
The police mission is also described in the Police Act (1984:387). Among other things, it states that the police shall prevent crime, monitor public order and safety, conduct reconnaissance and carry out criminal investigations.

Vicomtech is an Applied Research Centre specialised in Artificial Intelligence and Visual Computing & Interaction that transfers technologies to enable businesses to be more competitive and to have a positive impact on society.
In EITHOS, Vicomtech’s broad experience in NLP and Speech Processing Technologies will be the cornerstone of the text and audio analysis tools to be developed in EITHOS. Vicomtech will provide cutting-edge AI tools to analyze unstructured text data from the surface, the deep and the dark web, in order to uncover the latest trends and provide insights about identity theft. Additionally, Vicomtech will research and develop technologies for audio deepfakes and antispoofing.
The Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL) is part of the internationally renowned research group on Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS), within the Faculty of Law and Criminology, at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
CDSL is at the forefront of the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity and information security law and policy, bringing together established researchers and senior practitioners working at the intersection of law, technology, and security. In particular, CDSL takes a systematic approach to investigate the relationship between EU laws and policy on cybersecurity, privacy and data protection and the use of new and emerging technologies.
CDSL’s mission is to promote knowledge and understanding of legal and ethical frameworks developed around cybersecurity, data protection and digital technologies. To achieve this, CDSL regularly monitors, reviews, and assesses actual regulatory responses and policy-making options to address emerging legal and ethical challenges posed by new technologies in various research fields, including crime detection and analysis, border surveillance and security, cybersecurity in healthcare, emergency response and disaster management.
