Law enforcement has successfully neutralized LockBit, acknowledged as the most prevalent ransomware variant worldwide

🚔 Law enforcement agencies from 10 countries have successfully disrupted the operations of the LockBit ransomware group, dealing a significant blow to their criminal activities. Led by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) under ‘Operation Cronos’, coordinated efforts were made with Europol and Eurojust.

🔐 Over several months, LockBit’s primary platform and critical infrastructure were compromised, resulting in the takedown of 34 servers across multiple countries. Additionally, two LockBit actors have been apprehended, and over 200 cryptocurrency accounts linked to the group have been frozen.

👮‍♀️ The National Crime Agency (NCA) has assumed control over LockBit’s technical infrastructure, including their dark web leak site. Data gathered during the investigation will support ongoing efforts to target the group’s leaders, developers, affiliates, and associated criminal assets.

💡 The Swedish Police Authority not only is part of the international operation Cronos, but is also part of EITHOS EU Project. The whole consortium congratulates SPA for such an achievement!
