Over the span of 4 dynamic sessions, EITHOS had the pleasure of working with students aged 14 to 16 from Uccle EU-Schools, with one shared goal: helping them understand the digital risks they face and how to stay safe online.
These workshops tackled essential topics such as identity theft, phishing, online scams, and password security. Using a mix of interactive tools – including quizzes, real-life scenarios, and the Riskymeter – the sessions encouraged students to reflect on their own digital habits and learn how to adopt smarter, safer behaviors online.
What stood out most was the active participation and curiosity of the students. Whether through discussions or group activities, it was clear that this generation is eager to gain a deeper understanding of the digital world they live in.
EITHOS strongly believes that while teenagers are among the most digitally connected, they are also among the most exposed to cyber risks. Empowering them with the right knowledge and skills is not only essential – it’s an investment in a safer digital future for all.
We are proud of the enthusiasm and engagement shown throughout these sessions and remain committed to expanding our awareness-raising efforts across Europe.
In early April, the EITHOS project took a significant step in promoting digital safety for all age groups through two workshops held in Macerata, Italy.
On April 2nd, Annalisa Plava (Ph.D) researcher at the Università di Bologna, led an interactive workshop with 16 participants aged 64 to 93 from the University of the Third Age of Macerata. The session focused on online identity theft, specifically tailored to the needs and concerns of older adults. Through a combination of awareness-raising activities, prevention strategies, and discussions on available support mechanisms, participants were introduced to tools such as the OIDT Care Kit cards, the Riskmeter infographic, and EITHOS guidelines for victim support. Their active participation highlighted the importance of inclusive digital education and the unique perspectives older generations bring to these discussions.
The following day, April 3rd, Dr. Plava has made a second workshop with 38 students from the University of Macerata as part of the Sociology of Communication and Digital Media course. The two-hour session introduced students to the EITHOS initiative, inviting them to explore the causes and effects of identity theft through quizzes, visual materials, and creative exercises, including storytelling using comic strips and toolkit components. The workshop fostered critical thinking, digital literacy, and peer discussion in a dynamic and engaging format.
These workshops reflect EITHOS’ commitment to empowering every generation to navigate the digital world safely—ensuring that no one is left behind.
From April 1st to 3rd, 2025, the EITHOS project took part in the InCyber Forum Europe (formerly known as the FIC – Forum International de la Cybersécurité), one of Europe’s most prominent events dedicated to digital security and trust. Hosted annually in Lille, this 17th edition gathered over 20,000 visitors from 103 countries, along with 700 partners, under the theme “Beyond Zero Trust: Trust for All.”
EITHOS was proudly represented within the European Pavilion, alongside other EU-funded projects and key agencies such as EUROPOL, EU-Lisa, Cyrus, which enabled to foster collaboration across the European cybersecurity ecosystem.
Marie-Christine Bonnamour, General Secretary of PSC-Europe, delivered two compelling pitches during the EU Demo Show, presenting the EITHOS project’s mission, core values, and strategic objectives to a wide audience of professionals and institutional actors.
Among the consotrium PSCE (Marie-Christine Bonnamour, Anaïs Maluenda and Arnaud Couture) and Vicomtech (Pablo Turon) were there to represent EITHOS.
At our booth, visitors had the opportunity to discover EITHOS awareness-raising tools, including interactive campaigns on email spoofing and a demonstration of our AI-powered tool designed to enhance understanding of deepfake generation and detection.
The EITHOS team is grateful for the opportunity to showcase the project, exchange expertise, and strengthen collaboration within the European cybersecurity community.
Last November 19, on behalf EITHOS EU Project, Veronica Moretti & Annalisa Plava (Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna) held an awareness workshop with tens of students.
It was the occasion to inform them about the online identity theft and other cyber threats trends, teach them about how to prevent such crimes and the technology we develop to fight them, and raise awareness about the impact of such threats (victimology perspective).
Different material was used, in the frame of EITHOS awareness campaigns, such as quizzes, comic strips, kit cards, guidelines, educational articles.

The EITHOS project had the pleasure of being selected to participate in Europe Day 2024 on 4 May and to run a stand in the Berlaymont building of the European Commission, at the “Strengthening our Democracy” Village.
This was an opportunity to prepare quizzes for children and adults on cybersecurity and the techniques used to steal people’s identities, and how to protect oneself or at least reduce the risk. The deepfake creation tool was a great success and showed how easily someone’s image could be altered.
Over and above the laughter and smiles of the visitors, it was a beneficial demonstration of the dangers that exist and the means provided by the project to improve the awareness and the protection of the public.
On December 5, 2023, at the Dutch Police premises in The Hague, EITHOS organised his first workshop restricted to Law Enforcer Agencies (LEAs), on Combating Online Identity Theft (OIDT) at EU level.
In presence of EUROPOL who participated actively, twelves of participants from all over Europe received EITHOS and INTERPOL presentations on their respective actions and tools and took part in discussions about detection, investigation and legal evidence of OIDT.
Not forgetting the presence of one of our External Advisory Board members, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
