The Commission opens a call to strengthen Europe’s cybersecurity

The European Commission and the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) last week announced the opening of a new call for proposals under the Digital Europe Work Programme 2023-2024 to strengthen cooperation in the fight against cybersecurity. The total amount of the call is EURO 71 million of which EUR 35 million will be funding the set-up of the Cybersecurity Emergency Mechanism, EU30 million for the implementation of the NIS2 Directive, a EU-wide legislation providing legal guidelines to strengthen the level of cybersecurity in Europe as well as the implementation of the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The remaining EUR 6 million will be employed for stakeholder engagement.

An additional budget of EUR 36 million will be available from the re-opening of the previous call until 6th July 2023. The remaining funds will be used to cover three main topics: Resilience, Coordination and Cybersecurity Ranges, Capacity Building for Security Operation Centres, and Uptake of Innovation Cybersecurity Solutions.
